Circa 1860 English Victorian period large size tea cozy. The exterior is entirely needlepoint with each flower, leaf, stem & border of beadwork. Thousands of beads were hand woven into the facings, both opaque & translucent. The interior is burgundy silk, all stuffed with wool. Bottom inner edges with wear to silk. Some fading. 2 small moth losses, one of 4 knots, one of 6 and a few minor pulls. Holds a pot 8.5" x 7" x 8.5" h. A similar example for sale by a Victorian specialist for $1200; others are in museum collections.
